SWEDISH MASSAGE: Back to Top
The term "Swedish Massage" refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage feels good, is relaxing and invigorating. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, while promoting health and well–being.

A-SHIATSU: Back to Top
The therapist uses her feet is a series of gliding strokes and pressure to create a "push, pull, pumping" effect on the intervertebral disc space, resulting in lengthened, flexible muscle tissue which allows the body to naturally realign itself. Excellent choice for chronic low and upper back pain, tight and painful hamstrings and calves.

CRANIO SACRAL: Back to Top
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a very gentle form of bodywork that helps the body to release from the inside out. It is a very subtle form of work with profound results. CS work is done with a very gentle touch, working with the fluid that flows thru the central nervous system, which starts in the sacrum, goes all the way up the spine-surrounding the spinal cord and around the entire cranium. Imagine your body as a tight mop twisted up. Then imagine that mop releasing that mop releasing and unwinding. This unwinding helps the core of your body to stretch out and release. Letting go of tension from the core. By releasing adhesions in the dual tube, the Cerebral Spinal (CSF) is allowed to flow freely thru the dual tube (what encloses the central nervous system), bathing all the nerves in the body, which will lead to a decrease in tension by freeing the nerve source to flow thru your entire body, all the way from the spine out through various layers of the body, to the organs.

DEEP-TISSUE: Back to Top
Deep tissue is used to release chronic muscle tension trough slower strokes and more direct pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles not with the grain. It helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause soreness during and after the massage. However, if the massage is done correctly, you should feel better than ever within a day or two. Because many toxins are released, it is important to drink plenty of water after the session to help eliminate the toxins from the body. This technique helps loosen muscle tissues or "unstuck" the fibers of a muscle while releasing deeply-held patterns of tension, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly while relaxing and soothing the muscle. It is both the corrective and therapeutic.

STONE–THERAPY: Back to Top
Stone therapy blends the ancient Native American art of stone massage with modern massage techniques to create a massage experience unlike any other you have received on a massage table before. The Native Americans used rocks which were either heated or cooled to relieve the body’s pressure points as a form of alternative medicine for the mind, body and soul.

The Native American art has been refashioned to meet the stresses of today’s world. Hot Stone therapy is essentially a native tradition which encompasses heat therapy, the medicine of basalt stones, with the energy work performed by the therapist. This process allows for deep penetration which offers clients deeper relief and better health.

The therapist will use both hot and cold stones as an extension of their hands to deeply work through muscle tension. This technique is called "the chase" which involves both temperatures as part of the therapy. The heated stones are placed all around the body’s energy points, including hands, in between and along the back, the stomach, on the eyes, forehead, etc. These energy points are called chakras.

ACTIVE ISOLATED STRETCHING Back to Top
The Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) method of muscle lengthening and fascial release is a type of Athletic Stretching Technique that provides effective, dynamic, facilitated stretching of major muscle groups, but more importantly, AIS provides functional and physiological restoration of superficial and deep fascial planes.

Over the past few decades many experts have advocated that stretching should last up to 60 seconds. For years, this prolonged static stretching technique was the gold standard. However, prolonged static stretching actually decreases the blood flow within the tissue creating localized ischemia and lactic acid buildup. This can potentially cause irritation or injury of local muscular, tendinous, lymphatic, as well as neural tissues, similar to the effects and consequences of trauma and overuse syndromes. These stretches provide maximum benefit and can be accomplished without opposing tension or resulting trauma.

Aaron Mattes Method myofascial release technique, which incorporates AIS, uses active movement and reciprocal inhibition to achieve optimal flexibility. Using a 2.0 second stretch has proven to be the key in avoiding reflexive contraction of the antagonistic muscle. Without activating muscle group contraction, restoration of full range of motion and flexibility can be successfully achieved.
